Ben Field’s Attorney Released a Statement

By now all of you have heard about and seen the video of EX-officer Ben Fields subduing tossing the Spring Valley High student across the floor.  He was fired on yesterday.  Hopefully, there will be charges tossed at him.  (See what I did there?) Most of us are disgusted by this man’s actions and want him to acknowledge what he did.  But wait… his attorney has something to say.

First and foremost, Mr. Ben Fields would like to acknowledge and personally thank all of those who have offered their support of his actions during Monday’s incident that occurred at Spring Valley High School. The Positive response and heartfelt support of Ben has been overwhelming.

We believe that Mr. Fields’ actions were justified and lawful throughout the circumstances of which he was confronted during this incident. To that extent, we believe that Mr. Fields’ actions were carried out professionally and that he was performing his job duties within the legal threshold.

Mr. Fields welcomes the opportunity to address the particulars at the appropriate time. However, since this matter is presently under investigation with federal authorities, he is respectfully declining to make a statement at this time.

Until such time, there will be no further public comments from Mr. Fields or on his behalf.

He could have apologized for what he did.  This could have been a big turning point for America regarding police brutality against people of color.  Instead, he chooses to go down fighting.  I mean… It’s on video from different angles.  We all saw what happened.  Deputy Fields flung her towards the floor by her neck.  He threw her across the floor and had to walk to where he threw her in order to cuff her.  Like most cops, unfortunately, he wants to fight it to the very end.  If he wants to embarrass himself in court, then be my guest. He’s already been sued twice.  Meanwhile, the FBI and DOJ are investigating, which means absolutely nothing. They never come up with anything.  All of this is adding fuel to the fire for activists and advocates.  Well, we have to keep on fighting because #BlackLivesMatter.
